HSE Boys Track Opens Indoor Season Anderson

The Royals boys track team competed indoors on Saturday at Anderson University. The meet was hosted by HSE and served as a qualifier for the HSR Indoor State Finals on March 28. Hamilton Southeastern had a strong day across the board, highlighted by several event wins and top finishes. In the hurdles, Sam Long was victorious in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.27, while Sam Irish added a third-place finish in 8.69. The Royals also went 3-4-5 in the 60-meter dash with Shawn Campbell, Dryden Moore, and Josemar Nguti finishing in 7.24, 7.27, and 7.36, respectively. In the distance events, Charles Ritter placed second in the 3200 meters with a time of 9:54.84. HSE dominated the 4x800 relay, taking both first and second place. The Blue team of Liam McNiven, Drew Cole, Justin Bove, and Andrew Butler won in 8:29.47, while the White team of Drew McNiven, Trewman Francis, Monroe Cluff, and Noah Millis finished second in 8:57.42. The Royals also captured first place in the 4x200 relay as Nathan Zakrzewski, William Tschida, James Rudicel, and Shawn Campbell combined to run 1:36.35. In the distance medley relay, the Blue team of Isaac Smith, Will Henning, Omar Elsayed, and Liam Powers took first in 10:36.16, while the White team placed third in 11:13.55. Hamilton Southeastern continued its dominance in the 4x400 relay, finishing first and second. The White team of Charlie Blackburn, Dylan Foltice, Kerry Snow, and Liam Sayers won in 3:42.49, just ahead of the Blue team of Ryan Tholen, Connor Gorman, Nathan Zakrzewski, and Weston Kopeck, which ran 3:42.75. In the field events, KJ Mallett placed second in the shot put with a throw of 46' 1 1/2". In the long jump, Josemar Nguti was runner-up with a leap of 20' 1", while William Tschida finished third at 19' 10 1/2". Chris Beck won the high jump by clearing 6' 2". In the pole vault, Andrew Krohn claimed first place with a clearance of 12' 6", and Weston Kopeck followed in second at 12' 0".
