Royals Compete Among Indiana’s Best at HSR Indoor State Meet

The Royals closed out the indoor season with a strong showing at the HSR Indoor State Meet on March 28, 2026, as the Royals competed against some of the best athletes in Indiana and came away with multiple standout performances. Liam Powers led the way with a terrific finish in the 3200 meters, taking 4th place in the state with a time of 9:10.38. Isaac Smith also earned his spot in the field and represented the Royals well in the event. In the 60-meter hurdles, Sam Long delivered one of the top performances of the day for HSE. After running 8.18 in the prelims to qualify for the final, Long returned to place 6th overall in 8.22, scoring valuable points for the Royals. Sam Irish also competed in the preliminaries and posted a solid 8.49. Hamilton Southeastern’s relay teams also made their mark. The 4x800 relay team of Omar Elsayed, Liam McNiven, Liam Powers, and Will Henning ran 7:56.20 to finish 7th in the state, while the distance medley relay team of Isaac Smith, Will Henning, Omar Elsayed, and Liam Powers crossed in 10:42.26. The Royals were also represented in the field events by Chris Beck in the high jump, adding to a strong overall state meet presence for Hamilton Southeastern.
