FISHERS, Ind. – Hamilton Southeastern Athletics continues its commitment to providing a premier experience for its student-athletes, coaches and community with the creation of a new Sports Information Director position. The department is proud to announce the hiring of Rob Connett as the inaugural Sports Information Director and Public Address Announcer for the Royals.   Hamilton Southeastern Athletics and Royals Varsity Club continue to work together to invest in opportunities that enhance the student-athlete experience. The Sports Information Director position was established to better celebrate the accomplishments of Royals teams and individuals while strengthening communication, storytelling and engagement with families, alumni, media and the greater HSE community.   The new position will oversee the department's athletic communications efforts, including website content, social media strategy, photography, video production, media relations, historical archives and special features highlighting HSE student-athletes, coaches and teams. In addition, Connett will lead public address announcing at athletic events, helping create an energetic, professional, college-style game-day atmosphere across Hamilton Southeastern's athletic venues.   "At Hamilton Southeastern, we believe our student-athletes, coaches and programs deserve to be showcased at the highest level," said HSE Athletics Director Drew Tower. Rob's experience, professionalism and passion for collegiate and high school athletics make him the ideal person to lead that effort, and we're excited to welcome him to the Royal family."   “The way people consume information has changed dramatically, and social media has become one of the most powerful tools for connecting communities and telling meaningful stories,” said Hamilton Southeastern Athletic Director Tilmon Clark. “Creating the Sports Information Director (SID) position reflects our commitment to ensuring our student-athletes, coaches and programs receive the recognition they deserve.  Connecting our current partnership with Southeastern Sports Network and this newly created SID position we will only strengthen the relationship between Hamilton Southeastern Athletics, our families, alumni and community." Connett arrives at Hamilton Southeastern with more than a decade of experience in athletic communications, broadcasting and public address announcing at both the collegiate and high school levels. Most recently, he served Green Level High School in Cary, North Carolina, while also spending the past four seasons as the in-stadium public address announcer for the University of North Carolina football, as well as stepping in for baseball and volleyball. "Rob is one of the best public address announcers I've ever worked with. He stepped into the role of UNC Football's announcer prior to the 2023 season and has blown us away with his talent and professionalism," said University of North Carolina Assistant AD Neal Franzer. "Rob is also a top-notch person, and we are very excited for him as he takes on this new opportunity."   A graduate of Ball State University with dual majors in Communications and Journalism, Connett has spent 16 years in the radio industry and previously taught high school communications. Throughout his career, he has served as the public address announcer for numerous collegiate conference championships and NCAA Tournament events, and was a finalist for the Indiana Pacers public address announcer position in 2021.   "I'm incredibly thankful to Drew and Tilmon for the opportunity to join Hamilton Southeastern Athletics," Connett said. Whether it's through game-day presentation, social media, feature stories or digital content, I want to help showcase our programs in a way that our athletes, families and community can be proud of."   The creation of the Sports Information Director position represents another step in Hamilton Southeastern Athletics' long-term vision to provide a best-in-class experience for its student-athletes while continuing to strengthen the culture of all athletic programs. Through enhanced storytelling, increased visibility and elevated event presentation, the department aims to celebrate the achievements of more than 1,500 student-athletes and further connect the Royals community.   Connett will officially begin his role prior to the start of the 2026-27 athletic season.
