Royals beat Brownsburg 3-1 in Conference Victory The HSE Royals opened conference play Tuesday night with a hard fought 3-1 victory over the Brownsburg Bulldogs. The first half was a back and forth battle - neither side finding the back of the net and sending the teams into halftime tied 0-0. The excitement picked up quickly in the second half. After being fouled just outside the 18, Mason MacEwen (7) brought gave the Royals the first goal with a perfectly placed free kick. Shortly after, MacEwen (7) beat the Bulldogs defense just past midfield and took the ball all the way to the goal giving HSE a 2-0 lead. Brownsburg answered with a goal to cut the lead to 2-1, but the Royals responded with continued offensive pressure and strong defensive play. MacEwen completed his night - and hat trick - with the final goal of the game, finishing a cross to make it 3-1 Royals. Next up: The Royals return home on Thursday, 8/27 to take on Pendleton Heights.
