The HSE Boys Varsity Royals battled the Avon Orioles to a 2-2 draw Tuesday night in a hard-fought conference matchup. HSE came out strong, controlling the early action and getting on the board when Mason MacEwen (7) found the back of the net. The Royals took a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Royals struck again early in the second half after Carter Pollak (15) was fouled in the box, earning a penalty kick. Mason MacEwen (7) buried the PK low to the right, giving the Royals a 2-0 advantage. Avon answered with a rocket from outside the 18 to cut the lead to 2-1. Later in the half, an unfortunate HSE foul gave the Orioles a free kick, which they converted to even the score at 2-2. Your Royals continued to create chances and came close several times in the second half, but couldn’t find the game-winner. Final: HSE 2, Avon 2. HSE Boys Varsity goes on the road next to play West Lafayette Harrison on their turf Thursday evening, 9/3. Let's go Royals!
