The deck was stacked against us, the target was on our back, but our boys came through and showed why they deserved to be STATE CHAMPS. Friday, due to weather, the quarterfinal match was moved inside to Zionsville, where we faced the #2 ranked Zionsville team. Beating a team 3 times on the year is hard enough but doing it on what is essentially their home courts, that's extra tough. But the Team came through with wins by 1 singles (Abhi), 1 doubles (Brady/Logan) and an epic three set match by team MVP Parker Stump at 2 singles to secure the 3-2 victory. But we couldn't celebrate this victory as we needed to recover as we faced the #5 ranked South Bend St. Joe team early on Saturday morning. In the cold we came out hot and got the win over this tough team. 1 doubles again got us started and 2 doubles (Evan/Hudson) shortly joined them with wins to give us the edge. Then Abhi Manikandan got what might be his signature win of the season to secure this 3-2 victory and send us into the championship match. You would have thought this was a football game with the level of cheering from our fans, and I think that help Abhi get this win. Then we had a quick turnaround as early in the afternoon we had the championship match against #6 Delta. This is always a well coached and tough team, and we were tired and injured. But we showed what true champions are made of by getting the 4-1 win with straight set victories. This was a true team effort. All players and alternates showed what it takes to win this state championship and I'm incredibly proud and lucky to be their coach.
