The Royals started the day shorthanded and finished with even more injuries, but were still able to find a lot of success. The Royals started the day with decisive victories over Norwell (61-11) and Mt. Vernon (57-21) before running into the eventual champs, Roncalli. The loss to Roncalli was similar to the loss to Avon in that the Royals battled, but lost many close matches. The highlights were Chris Casler and Evan Lawhead taking decisive wins over their top 20 opponents. Finishing 2nd in pool play, HSE matched up with county and conference foe Noblesville and put it to them as well with a 42-28 victory that really wasn't that close. Unfortunately, this marked the end of the day for Seniors Aidan Smalley and Landon Hicks who both sustained injuries that would keep them out for the final round. Battling without 5 starters, the Royals fell to the host Shamrocks in the 5th place match, but were able to battle and win some more key individual matches. Big one was Chris Casler with a 7 point victory over Jake Saez at 144. The Royals (3-3) will look to get healthy prior to hosting the #10 Eagles of Zionsville on Wednesday December 10th.
