The Hamilton Southeastern Athletic Department is excited to welcome Michael Bennett to our boys basketball staff! Coach Bennett joins the Royals staff coming from a role with the Noblesville boys basketball program where he served as a varsity assistant since 2021. "Coach Bennett is an incredible basketball coach, but better human being! His experience as a player and a varsity assistant in the area will result in an immediate impact on the culture and the program as a whole at Hamilton Southeastern. There is no doubt in my mind that he is one of the top basketball minds in high school basketball in the state of Indiana and we are lucky to have him and his family join the Royals family." - Head Coach Bobby Allen Coach Bennett was recently honored to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary team for his accomplished career in high school and college basketball. In high school at Brebeuf Jesuit, Michael averaged 17.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.7 steals and 3.2 blocks as a senior in leading the Braves to a 24-2 season and Class 3A state championship. In four varsity seasons, he totaled 1,187 points (13.2) and 506 rebounds (5.6) as the Braves posted a 54-38 ledger for coaches Walt Morris and Leo Klemm. Coach Bennett was a 2000 Indiana All-Star and was selected AP second-team All-State, IBCA second-team All-State, IndyStar Super Team, IndyStar first-team all-Marion County and team MVP as a senior. He previously was honorable mention all-Marion County as a junior and third-team all-Marion County as a sophomore. Bennett competed collegiately at Ball State, where he played five seasons (including just four games as a freshman because of injury). BSU won the Mid-American Conference West Division and reached the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament in 2002, and Bennett was a team captain in 2004-05. "I am really excited to join Coach Allen, a proven winner to help continue the winning tradition of HSE basketball." - Michael Bennett Coach Bennett earned a bachelor’s degree in sports administration from Ball State in 2004 and has been a boys’ basketball assistant coach at Noblesville since 2021. He also has coached CYO teams over the years and won the 2022 Monsignor Albert Busald Award for outstanding volunteer efforts on behalf of youth at St. Thomas Aquinas School. Since early 2024, Bennett has been a physician recruiter for Ascension St. Vincent Health. He enjoys watching his younger two sons play baseball for school and travel teams.
