HSE Freshmen Defeat Roncalli 10-9 in Bonus Softball

The Freshmen Royals won a nail-biter against Roncalli Tuesday night, winning 10-9 in the bottom of the ninth inning. Elli Lindvall was the winning pitcher for HSE retiring 12 Roncalli batters. Nadia DeSabatine led the Royals offensively going 2-for-3 with one RBI and two walks. Kensley Roberts wasn't far behind going 2-for-4 at the plate. Lindvall, Sophia Lucas, and Rileigh Pierce all contributed a hit for the Royals offense as well. Lily Layman and Allison Miller each added a hit and two timely RBI's. Charlie Fletcher also had a timely fielder's choice that tied things up early in the second inning. The Royals never quit and came back in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game 9-9 with a single by DeSabatine and a sacrifice fly by Layman. In the bottom of the ninth, Lucas had a lead-off single to left field. Chloe Migiliore came in to pitch run at first, then advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch. DeSabatine and Layman both walk to load up the bases. Then, Miller grounds into a fielder's choice, scoring the winning run. The Royals will face the Fishers Tigers tonight at 5:30.
